Douglas Alexander McInnes, 84, of Schaumburg, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Douglas was born on August 10, 1923 in Chicago, a son of Hugh and Marie (Scherke) McInnes. He married Linda L. Kiddell. She survives.
Douglas was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He was stationed in Hawaii and was a survivor of the bombing at Pearl Harbor. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired on January 12, 1951.
He earned the Purple Heart, American Area Ribbon, the American Defense Ribbon, the Philippines Defense Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with Six Stars, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with Two Stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
Cremation rites have been accorded and his cremated remains will be scattered at sea from aboard a U.S. Navy vessel, with full military honors.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home in Peoria.
